Self-Inquiry Is The Answer
The world of spiritual aspiration nothing much has happened for 2,500 years. There have been improvements and tweaks and different ways of looking at things, but for about 2,500 years, since the time of the Buddha, nothing much new has taken place. We have been trudging along, hearing about enlightenment, seeking enlightenment, failing to gain enlightenment, settling for what we get and so forth, for about 2,500 years. Prior to that, the world of the spirit was seen to be outside of ourselves, in forces and spirits and gods and goddesses and astrological movements and then, around 2,500 years ago, there occured a shift in human consciousness in which we came to see that the spiritual world is within us. That was a huge, radical break.
